My product reflection was completed through personal judgement and peer evaluation, based on the subjectivity and bias margins of some strands in my Criteria. All the directly measurable strands, with definitive results, were marked through self-assessment, where I personally reviewed the product for the strand’s success. The strands with more subjective and less-specific criteria were evaluated directly by the target audience in order to remove personal bias. This also helped include audience opinion in my evaluation, through the survey, which saw results from 29 respondents.
In general, I believe that my product was largely successful, with many distinctions that made it cohesive and informative. To summarize, some key strengths of the website were predominantly in the Content strands 1, 2 and 3, which were requirement-fulfilling and detailed, with information from a range of sources. Also, for Audience, strand 1 was proficiently met, as it was appropriately catered for the target audience and Aesthetics strands 2 and 3 were highly addressed, with clear images and legible text. Finally, Functionality strands 1 and 2 were met expertly; all functions were working accurately, and the website was easy to use and understand.
However, this doesn’t mean that the product was perfect, and in fact, there are some key strands that could be improved to enhance the product’s suitability. In Functionality Strand 3, the word count could be increased to be closer to the required 15,000 words. For Aesthetics strand 1, the website’s layout could be made more coherent and unified throughout, to improve the attractiveness. In Audience strand 2, the website’s domain could be converted from a WIX domain to an individual domain, to help with its popularity, which could be further extended with an SEO service. Overall, keeping in mind its strengths and weaknesses, this product received a 6/8.

Reflecting as an IB Learner
Throughout the project, I personally grew in several aspects of the IB learner profile, mainly as an inquirer, communicator and being reflective.
Firstly, I enhance my Inquirer profile primarily through the research phase of the process, which saw several layers of research that allowed me to develop and create a complete understanding of rockets. Through research in several sources, due to curiosity, I spent many hours independently learning about rockets from a variety of sources, like NASA, engineering professors, science videos etc. My inquiry deep-dive continued with the primary research where I learned a great deal about rocket launches and procedures directly from the senior engineers of the MBRSC, which built my strength in this learner profile. This leads me to my second IB learner profile, Communicator. In order to get the opportunity to interview 2 engineers, I had to contact several people within the MBRSC, and also communicate directly with the engineers, to set-up the meeting. I collaborated with the engineers to successfully exchange ideas and information through the format of an interview . Finally, I improved as a communicator through the primary research survey conducted within my target audience, where I received 93 responses due to the many social groups I contacted, making me more confident in this profile. Lastly, I developed the Reflective IB profile over this project through my various analyses. I reflected in my Brainstorming process, where I evaluated the best possible topic for my project . Next, I reviewed my recent progress and productivity through the Managebac journal entries. Then, making improvements on my report through Supervisor feedback was also an important reflection I completed (See Appendix I). Finally, my primary reflection took place during the Product Evaluation, where I analyzed the strengths and weaknesses of my product as a whole. All of these combined have made me more adept and complete at being reflective. |
